NIVEL, Netherlands Institute for Health Services Research

Nivel, Netherlands institute for health services research is the national institute for health services research in the Netherlands.

Health services research is the multidisciplinary field of scientific investigation that examines how social factors, financing systems, organisational structures and processes, health technologies, and personal behaviours affect access to health care, the quality and costs of health care, and ultimately our health and well-being.

Nivel is an independent organisation, which carries out high quality research with a demonstrable impact upon society.

Nivel researchers gather, analyse and synthesise data and information to gain knowledge and insight about the quality and effectiveness of health care delivery and related social services, both in the Netherlands and in Europe.

We believe that the knowledge we create through our research supports the continuous improvement of health and social care for patients and the sustainability of the health care system as a whole.

Scientific quality and societal relevance
In 2016 an independent international review committee has rated, very highly, the scientific quality and societal relevance of Nivel's research together with the viability of the organisation as a whole (Assessment Report). In 2014 we received once again the full ISO-9001 accreditation.
